As this evenings work is done, time for my real work: The book “33 Worst Mistakes Writers Make about Firearms” - I finally got it finished and Holly Lisle had it out in her HollyShop at the beginning of this week. Amazing how she gets things done, and I’m ever grateful for the opportunity of participating in this series. Mistakes writers make about… “Horses” by Sue L . Huffman was the first to be available . I’ve just downloaded a copy and it is really good. I’ll have a lot more to say about it later, meanwhile here it is:
The 33 Worst Mistakes Writers Make About Horses, by Sue L. Huffman.
It’s easy to see how these short books (the series will go on) can be useful on any writers desk: Sooner or later some scene will crop up where a description can go very wrong - or a lot of time would have to go into research. Information is available in huge amounts; a modern writers task is more one of filtering than finding. This way, with these books, much of the filtering has already been done.

After all, the software works. File transfers were timing out but also I had to been taking the whole file folder; exactly as it unzipped after downloading. It was the second (nested folder) that did the trick, and the plugins began to ’show’ in the admin manager here. Which? I’m not sure. A big help was using a different file transfer system called ‘Leech’- form Germany apparently. I’ve no idea when or where I got it. It has a big advantage of showing all the ‘failed ‘files in a transfer and a gadget to load those again, without having to send the whole thing up the pipe.
Maybe. It does give a better control of what’s going on - and it sticks to the host throughout the whole operation - like a leech.

Q, aka Peter is back again: This is the third try at installing WordPress, this afternoon. It hadn’t loaded properly before - apparently the file transfer was timing out before it was complete and some things just wouldn’t work - plugins, specially: One of the softwares most prominent features and out of order. This time, I’ve backed up (I hope) the old database and any traces of the old WP (I hope), to start over with a clean installation (at one time it was even linking to things I thought I’d erased months ago) . This is altogether too geek right now but…
(later) Plugins still won’t work. Try again.
